Had a good time at Left Coast Crime in spite of catching cold on the flight out--beastly plane air.
If my brain were less fogged, I could remember which friend I had the following conversation with before my trip.
Me: So I'm going to Left Coast Crime.
Friend: Where is it this year?
Me: In LA.
Friend: Where specifically?
Me: (thinking s/he didn't hear): Los Angeles.
Friend: It can't be in Los Angeles.
Me: I hope it is. I'm getting on a plane to go to LAX.
Friend: Yes, but there's nothing really in Los Angeles. They must be having it in one of the communities in the greater Los Angeles area. There are dozens of them--Hollywood, Burbank, `Anaheim, Long Beach . . .
Me: I think it's in downtown LA.
Friend: Pasadena, Thousand Oaks, Glendale, Pomona, Santa Monica, Pasadena . . .
I gave up.
But that evening, I looked at the Left Coast Crime website, and sure enough, it was in downtown LA. At the downtown Omni. Only blocks from the Los Angeles City Hall, Union Station, and La Iglesia de Nuestra SeƱora la Reina de Los Angeles.
I'm not saying "So there," but I am relieved to know I wasn't as clueless as my friend thought me.
